John Harman

Managing Director, MBChB, FRACS

John set up St Marks Breast Centre in 1993 to provide the most comprehensive breast clinic in New Zealand.
He is a fully qualified Breast and General Surgeon with vast experience in all aspects of breast surgery. He is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Breast Section, the American Breast Society and the International Breast Cancer Study Group.

As a breast surgeon and specialist, John has written and lectured widely on many aspects of breast surgery, in particular breast reconstruction, breast reduction, breast augmentation and all aspects of breast cancer surgery.

Stan Govender

Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, MBChB FRACS

Stan was born in Durban, South Africa and graduated from the University of Natal in 1988 with a distinction and the prize in General Surgery.

He moved to New Zealand in 1992 and completed postgraduate training obtaining FRACS in 1999.

Stan is a trained breast and general surgeon and practises all aspects of breast surgery including oncologic surgery, sentinel lymph node biopsy, breast reconstruction, breast augmentation and breast reduction.

Vanessa Blair

Breast & General Surgeon FRACS, PHD

Dr Blair is an oncoplastic breast surgeon who will work with you to reach a carefully considered decision about the best reconstructive options tailored to your particular circumstances.

Vanessa trained in Auckland and has a PhD in hereditary stomach and breast cancer from Auckland University.

Michelle Locke

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon MBChB, MD, FRACS (Plast)

Dr Locke is a highly regarded Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon based in Auckland. As one of New Zealands few female Plastic Surgeons, she is acutely aware of her patients’ needs and she is dedicated to helping them achieve the best possible outcome from their surgery. Dr Locke is thorough, conscientious and empathic in her assessment of patients. Carmen Rosu


Carmen graduated from Romania and specialized in General Medicine in 1986.
She came to New Zealand in 2001 and worked in General Practice for two and a half years obtaining her Fellowship in 2005. She joined St Marks in May 2005.

Carmen is a Fellow of the Australasian Society of Breast Physicians and is on the General Medical Register.

Tanya Sharp

Breast Physician, MA MBBS

Tanya attended the Imperial College School of Medicine at St Mary’s, London, England where she gained her MBBS. She also holds an MA from Oxford University, England.

Tanya has gained broad clinical experience working in hospitals in England, Australia and New Zealand. She has also pursued teaching and research opportunities.

Tanya joined St Marks Breast Centre in February 2013. She is pursuing training in this specialist field, an area of medicine in which she is very interested.

Noreen Tracey

Breast Radiologist MB BCh MRCP FRCR FFRRCSI

Noreen attended medical school at The Queen University in Belfast, graduating in 1986. She spent three years in General Medicine and obtained her MRCP, before a double fellowship in radiology in 1994.

Noreen spent eight years in a busy diagnostic breast clinic and the NHS Breast Screening programme before moving to New Zealand in 2002. She worked as Clinical Director for BreastScreen Aucklad for three years and has worked for St Marks since 2006.

Stephen Bepko

Breast Radiologist MD/Diplomate ABR

Stephen completed his medical training in the United States, including a Breast Imaging Fellowship at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, NY. As an American Board Certified Radiologist, he recently retired as a Lt Colonel after a 20-year medical career in the United States Air Force and moved to New Zealand in order to practice full-time in the imaging and diagnosis of Breast Cancer.

During his military career, he commanded (ran) a 90-person Radiology Department in Las Vegas, NV, and served as the Chief of Breast Imaging for the USAF Radiology Residency Program located at Travis AFB, CA.

Stephen has visited Aotearoa several times and is looking forward to exploring this beautiful country with his wife and two children.

Priti Solanki

Group Charge Radiographer

Pritibala graduated from British Columbia Institute Technology, Canada with Diploma in Radiography. Completed Advanced Certification in Radiography at BCIT and Certificate in Mammography with Unitec Institue in NZ.

Qualified MRT with 18 years of experience in both public hospitals in Canada and NZ and private practices . Priti joined St. Marks Group 2006 as a mammographer and currently holds Charge MRT position. She is passionate about mammography and strives for excellence.

Claire Martin

Group Nurse Manager

Claire graduated from Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT) 1997 with a Bachelor of Nursing. She has previously worked in a specialist rehabilitative unit in Christchurch as well as neurosurgical and palliative care unit in London. In 2002 Claire returned to New Zealand, where she joined St Marks Breast Care Centre keen to focus on women’s health and oncological nursing.

After several years providing relief support to St Marks and a breast cancer charity while on maternity leave, Claire has returned in July 2015 as Nurse Manager.
